In July 2024, a hacktivist group named NullBulge leaked 1.1 terabytes of internal Disney data, including unreleased projects, raw images, code, login credentials, and internal API links. The breach primarily targeted Disney's Slack channels and is believed to have stemmed from malware downloaded by a Disney software manager. NullBulge claimed their motivation was related to Disney’s handling of artist contracts and AI, while also referencing the shutdown of Club Penguin as a point of frustration.
The personal information of Disney employees was exposed, raising concerns about targeting individuals rather than the company itself. Disney has since confirmed they are investigating the matter.
